VEMU's 7th Fundraising Dinner

Saturday, April 28 at 7pm at Tartu College, VEMU's 7th fundraiding dinner will take place. Folklorist Marju Kõivupuu from Estonia will be the keynote speaker and speak on the topic of 100-Year-Old Estonia During the Year of European Cultural Heritage 2018. Dinner will be prepared by Chef Paul Lillakas. Appetizers at 6pm.

Workshop - Knitting Estonian Wrist Warmers

Sunday, March 25 from 12-4pm, Helle Arro and Maaja Matsoo from the Estonian Ethnography Circle of Canada will be leading a workshop on knitting Estonian wrist warmers.

Please register by March 19 (, t. 416 925 9405). Please let us know if you know how to knit or not - the workshop is open to both beginners and advanced knitters. If you have 2,5mm-3,5mm needles and yarn (two-ply), please bring them with you. If you don't, then bring $10 with you to the workshop for supplies.

Daytime Passover Seder

Celebrate the Jewish holiday of Passover with a participatory community seder. Enjoy traditional songs, secular readings and special ceremonial foods. With special musical guests: Members of the Miles Nadal JCC Daytime Choir. Limited seating available.

Intro to Universal Design

What is Design? What is Universal Design? This session will introduce participants to the world of design by using an everyday item - the chair. Participants will explore chair designs from around the world and discuss form and function while exploring design concerns including materials, ergonomics, accessibility and scale. Participants will learn to think like designers as they work. Please note this is an introductory workshop, addressing universal design through basic principles. It will be best experienced by those 18 and under. Families welcome!
