Grammy Award-winning Estonian vocal ensemble Vox Clamantis is “a rarity. The 15 singers sound is complete, comfortable possession of the music and its incantatory intentions.” (BBC Music) Ensemble members share a passion for Gregorian chant, early polyphony, and contemporary music. The duo of violinist and singer, Maarja Nuut, and Estonian electronic music composer, Hendrik Kaljujärv, are defined by a deep and intense quest to create complex moodscapes. Nuut uses her voice, violin, and loop station to create a quirky sound world that seems to be out of a Baltic fairy tale book. Together, their sound is firmly rooted in village traditions and yet completely contemporary. This concert’s program includes works by Arvo Pärt, Helena Tulve, Tõnis Kaumann, and others.
