Kurt Weill's Street Scene

Directed by Patrick Albano and conducted by Sandra Horst, U of T Opera presents Kurt Weill's Street Scene. This opera portrays the romance between Rose Maurrant and her neighbour Sam Kaplan as well as the extramarital affair of Rose's mother Anna, which escalates to tension and tragedy. Based on the Pulizer Prize-winning play by Elmer Rice, Weill's Street Scene is a groundbreaking synthesis of European traditional opera and American musical theatre.
