Is it possible for a citizen activist in Armenia to rally enough support to topple a system of ingrained corruption? Or is it a dream?
This tale of a modern-day political struggle in Armenia, where one activist puts it, the people had “forgotten how to dream.” It documents the remarkable journey of one man to inspire a “velvet revolution” in 2018. His movement non-violently toppled the corrupt government that enjoyed absolute power in this post-Soviet nation. With total access to all key players, I Am Not Alone tells the story of his 40-day cross-country walk to stir support for his movement.
Introduction by Atom Egoyan, filmmaker and Human Rights Watch Canada advisory committee member, and Arsinée Khanjian, artist and producer.
Discussion to be led by Jane Buchanan, former Europe and Central Asia associate director and current deputy disability rights director at Human Rights Watch.
