NEW MUSIC FESTIVAL: ACTOR 1: Sound Tools vs. Tool Sounds

New Music Festival with André Mehmari, Roger D. Moore Distinguished Visitor in Composition

U of T composers present pieces composed using computer assisted orchestration tools currently in development as part of the ACTOR project (actorproject.org). Each composer is tasked with overcoming a unique orchestrational challenge. Will the composer’s aesthetic get co-opted by algorithms and software? Or will the composers bend the software to support their creative vision?

12:00 pm in Walter Hall, 80 Queen's Park

Free

Presented by Eliot Britton.
