Music on Film: Strings Attached // Hot Docs Cinema
Playing in-cinema & on-demand (as of October 21)
One of the most exciting and in-demand chamber ensembles in the world, the Dover Quartet has had a meteoric rise to stardom. From their breakthrough at the prestigious Banff International String Quartet Competition in 2013, this documentary follows the quartet’s four superb young musicians in their lives on and offstage as they give up their solo careers to realize their dreams. But what does success really mean? Can a young group like theirs bring new audiences to classical music? And will the endless days and nights on the road, the slim pay and growing pains overwhelm their love of the music—or will the music win?
Stick around for live music and a discussion with members of The Dover Quartet and director Bruce Broder, hosted by the Royal Conservatory's Mervon Mehta.
Watching on Hot Docs at Home? The Q&A will be recorded and available to enjoy after the stream.
