In a fairytale retelling turned on its head, the eponymous ogre with wisecracking sidekick, Donkey, are on a quest to save Princess Fiona, deliver her to her smarmy betrothed, Lord Farquaad, and return to the solitude of his swamp.

With tongue-and-cheek humour, less-than-subtle jabs at a certain other animation studio, and the unexpected titular hero, it’s no coincidence that Shrek has become both a tenet of meme culture and a modern classic for all ages.

Shrek-inspired costumes highly encouraged. Ogre green face paint, Farquaad bobs, gumdrop buttons, anything goes!
