Shari & Lamb Chop
“You have to learn how to laugh, You have to learn how to sing and when things go wrong you have to change your song. You have to chuckle all the minutes of the passing day. Reach for the stars and the milky way.” — Shari Lewis
The child in us has gleamed at recent doc bios of Mr Dressup, Mr. Rogers, Peewee and more, and now, an undeniable chapter in the story of iconic children’s entertainers gets her turn, and her beloved Lamb Chop is of course along for the ride!
This heartfelt and entertaining doc charts the life, loves, and career hits and misses of Shari Lewis, the children’s television pioneer and spunky perfectionist who forever changed the face of children’s television. Before Mr. Rogers and Jim Henson, there was Shari. She was a dancer, singer, and magician, but was best known as the ventriloquist behind sock puppets Charlie Horse, Hush Puppy and, of course, Lamb Chop. Her magnetic ability to connect with audiences made her a television staple for decades. Featuring ventriloquists that she inspired and nostalgia-laden clips, this upbeat portrait brims, like Lewis, with warmth and charm.
Shari and Lamb Chop is the tonic we all need to reconnect with our inner children and celebrate pure imagination.
