Learn Hebrew or Yiddish at the J this winter!

Beginner Hebrew (morning and evening classes available)

Start speaking Hebrew! Learn the foundations of Hebrew literacy and pronunciation. Designed for those with no Hebrew background or those who want to refresh their basic Hebrew skills, this virtual course on Zoom teaches you to read and write the aleph-bet with vowels, basic vocabulary and compose simple sentences.

Beginners Yiddish Conversation II

Students will build on their basic Yiddish speaking, listening, and comprehension skills through conversation, vocabulary activities, and working with Yiddish songs, proverbs, and other cultural materials. Themes will include the body, hobbies, family, food and cooking. This beginner-level virtual course on Zoom is suitable for those who have taken Beginner Yiddish Conversation I or an equivalent introductory course, or are willing to catch up on their own. Knowledge of alef-beys is not required; all materials will be provided in transliteration. Click here for more comprehensive Yiddish language programs with UJA’s Committee for Yiddish.
