Kol Nidre with 70 Hester Street A co-presentation with The Yiddish Vinkl Toronto Sunday, June 7 – 4:00 and 7:30 pm Guest Speaker: Author Shirley Kumove Joseph Seiden’s long-lost Kol Nidre (1939, 88 minutes) offers an unparalleled glimpse into the diversity of life, culture, and language of Yiddish New York in the 1930s. Part musical and part melodrama, the film is delightful, comically dark, and unforgettable.Newly restored by the National Center for Jewish Film. 70 Hester Street (2014, 11 minutes) is director Casimir Nozkowski’s heartfelt tribute to his childhood home, a former Lower East Side synagogue.
