Family holding fish and other foraged food

First We Eat VOD // Hot Docs at Home

When filmmaker Suzanne Crocker (All the Time in the World) suggests that her family ban all store-bought groceries for a year, her husband and three teenagers are skeptical. How will they access fresh, locally sourced food in their remote Yukon town, located 300 km from the Arctic Circle? Putting food security to the test, follow Suzanne and her family as they farm, fish and forage their own meals, contending with no salt, no caffeine, no sugar, and -40 temperatures. Will their commitment to sustainability hold up? A hit at our 2020 Festival, the charismatic First We Eat is a celebration of community and our relationship to the land that feeds us.

Featuring a special post-film Q&A with director Suzanne Crocker, recorded at the Hot Docs 2020 Festival.
