Open Call: True Colours
The Women’s Art Association of Canada (WAAC) invites LGBTQ2S+ artists based in Canada from all backgrounds and disciplines to submit their work for our 3rd Annual Uptown Pride art exhibition titled, True Colours. The exhibition will run from Thursday, June 20, to Saturday, June 29, 2024, in WAAC’s Dignam Gallery at 23 Prince Arthur Ave. in Toronto, Ontario.
This exhibition aims to showcase the diverse experiences, identities, and narratives within the LGBTQ2S+ community through art. From personal reflections to social commentary, True Colours seeks to amplify the voices and perspectives of LGBTQ2S+ individuals in all their complexity and nuance. We welcome submissions in all mediums, including painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, digital art, and more.
Artists are encouraged to explore themes such as but not limited to; identity, love, resilience, community, and the intersectionality of LGBTQ2S+ experiences. Submissions should authentically reflect the lived experiences of LGBTQ2S+ individuals.
Through this exhibition, we aim to celebrate the diversity and richness of LGBTQ2S+ lives while fostering understanding, empathy, and connection within and beyond the community.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES This call is exclusively open to all genders who identify as part of the LGBTQ2S+ community. Artists must be of 18 years or older, and based in Canada.
