Remembering the Island of the Gods: Izaihō in Film, Memory, and History

Lecture & Film Screening | JFT Event Hall | Registration Required

In this film screening and lecture event, Dr. Christopher Nelson (University of North Carolina) will guide us through the history of late-1960s Okinawa to help contextualize NOMURA Gakuya's ethnographic documentary, "Izaihō," that captures Kudaka Island's great religious ritual of the same name.

"Remembering the Island of the Gods: Izaihō in Film, Memory, and History" is a free event and is open to all.

The screening of "Izaihō" will be followed by the presentation and Q&A with Dr. Nelson.
