Matilda: Mother's Day Craft-Along
Calling all crafty mothers, grandmothers and aunties for a craft-along screening perfect for sharing with the youngsters in your life.
To celebrate Mother’s Day weekend, we invite you to BYOC (bring your own craft), and come with the kiddos to knit, crochet and create along to Danny Devito’s Matilda.
Join us for the hour ahead of the screening, when Creative Reuse Toronto will provide instructions for a kid-friendly craft (all materials provided). Participate in a free craft supply swap, too: give your lightly or unused craft supplies of any kind a new life and exchange them for something old but new to you. Supplies left over at the end of the event will be donated to Creative Reuse Toronto.
Then, settle in with your crafts and share this heartfelt film with your children and grandchildren. Brilliant beyond her years, Matilda finds solace from her neglectful family in books at the library. When she begins school, she bands together with her fellow classmates and her kind-hearted teacher, Miss Honey, to stand up to the tyrannical principal, the Trunchbull. A timeless classic for a reason, Matilda is a story about bravery and standing up to bullies, as well as found families and the mother-daughter relationship between Matilda and Miss Honey. The perfect film to celebrate moms and maternal figures.
This film will be played with the house lights on.
